A little progressive thinking from our friend, Elpie, down at the Mambo Foundation. They are starting a women’s user group called “Mambo M’Lady” that is intent on supporting women in their use of Mambo and also empowering women in open source. It seems they have found an enormous divide between the number of men and women participating and they discovered women tend to be uncomfortable joining forums. And, thus, they are doing what they can to help this segment of the population join in and reap the enormous benefits of free and open source software. Smart thinking. Way to go, Elpie, and thanks for supporting and empowering the Women of Open Source! The article will tell you more, give it a read. For women interested in participating, you will find information for how to get involved. It appears to me that Mambo is starting to reemerge with a new identity and mission and passion as they find their own interesting problems to solve. That is good for the people of the world and I am thrilled for the broader open source community to see this happen! I shared this with Joomla!, as well.
