After the recent security update, it's still so saddening to see how many people do not take security of their (and their clients) Joomla! sites seriously. If an urgent security patch is released, there is a good reason for it. In any case, just follow the Security Forum for a few hours to see what I am talking about. What can we all do about this? Here's one way: http://feedproxy.google.com/JoomlaSecurityNews You can subscribe via email and/or RSS the choice is yours.
Why not help us all out by spreading that link around as much as you can and encouraging more people to subscribe. PS We have more and more RSS/Email subscription options available to our users on the JoomlaConnect site now as well. Just click your browsers RSS icon. We'll be adding more of the language categories when we have time.

Happy third birthday, Joomla! It's hard to believe that three years have passed by so quickly. In that short time, the Joomla community has grown so much larger and stronger than we could have ever imagined. Today, Google search results on Joomla yield over 100 million results. The Joomla group of Web sites serves 1 million visitors per week. In the past year, Joomla has released the groundbreaking Joomla 1.5, launched the Joomla Community Portal and team blogs (including the Joomla Community Magazine and JoomlaConnect?), the Joomla Documentation Wiki, Joomla Developer section and our new site design. Since March 2007, there have been over 6 million downloads of Joomla. And yet, it feels like we are just getting geting started. We hope that you are having fun using Joomla and we encourage you to get involved in the community and help make Joomla even better for the fourth birthday celebration. There are great things in store for Joomla in the years to come!

(http://joomlatraining.com)Almost a year ago now we launched the Joomla SEO Club. It was a completely new concept at the time and for the last 11 months, I've been focused on making it successful. Now that it is, it's time to try and push the envelope once more.
Over the next few weeks, we plan to unveil three significant new projects here at Alledia. Today is the first of those.
From September to December, we'll be running Twelve Weeks of Training , an ambitious program to provide Joomla! training across the Eastern and Mid-Western United States. We've already run classes in Chicago and Atlanta. Now it's time for nine more cities ...

Happy Birthday Joomla!
September 1st is the project's 3rd birthday. You can read the original announcement here (http://www.joomla.org/announcements/general-news/35-new-arrival.html). Joomla.org was launched only 10 days after the domain name was registered (http://whois.domaintools.com/joomla.org).
How far has the project come? We're now reaching the point where a
several percent of all the sites on the web are built with Open Source
Content Management Systems. At the beginning of 2004, our industry
barely existed:

The all new MetaMorph template features a unique adapting design style without sacrificing flexibility. Sites needing that extra graphical touch can take advantage of MetaMorph's beautiful design, as well as it's adaptability and built-in power.
MetaMorph offers the same flexibility and powerful features RocketTheme templates are known for including the RokContentRotator content presentation module, Animated RokMooMenu menu system, and 28 module positions perfect for providing maximum control over your site's content presentation.

I've been a huge fan of Drupal's Content Creation Kit (http://drupal.org/project/cck) for a long time - its a module that extends the core content functionality of Drupal, allowing you to create different types of 'content' - made up of a variety of fields such as embedded media (photo/video/etc...), email links, html/web links and so on. CCK's architecture is scalable and allows for 3rd party developers to add new fields to it as additional modules; so the usefullness of CCK grows exponentially in time.
Actually, for a time I saw this amazing module really setting joomla and drupal apart - as, Joomla felt really limited in its potential to grow beyond a CMS and become let's say, an 'application framework.' However, I'm excited to report today that this is all about to change...

Or come to that. any website.
I just came across a great service that makes perfect use of crowdsourcing on the web. It allows you to get human feedback on your site, quickly and affordably. For the price of a McDonalds meal for your family you can get a video recording of real people trying tasks on your site, and the results will be surprising, I can promise.
The ser [...]

We're delighted to announce three new areas in Extension Guides, our freshly-added 6th section to the SEO Club.
These are easy-to-understand articles explaining how to use the most popular Joomla SEO extensions:
Artio SEF
SEF Advance
SEF Patch for Joomla 1.0
The first extension that we covered is sh404SEF and that guide is getting longer and longer, partly that's because it's powerful and complex, but also because of great feedback from club members.

This is an worrying security update that affects the Joomla world.
Up until now iDevAffiliate - the system used by almost every Joomla affiliate program - has stored passwords and Social Security numbers UNENCRYPTED in the database.
That means if you join an iDevAffiliate program the owner can go along and view your password whether its 12345 , password or something more personal. From there they can go back to your site, see other iDev programs that you're using and try to login to those, pretending to be you. If you're dumb enough to use the same login for your email also ...
